Q. Does Smart Strip™ work on detailed intricate surfaces?

Q. Does Smart Strip™ remove paint from dry wall?
A. Yes, Smart Strip™ Paint Remover will remove paint from dry wall. However, it is a difficult process. We suggest you begin by doing a "test patch" to determine the proper time Smart Strip™ should stay on the dry wall to be stripped. We have found that the dwell time is usually less than two hours but this will vary with the type of paint, number of coats of paint, type of drywall and the length of time the drywall has been painted. You should not leave Smart Strip™ too long on the dry wall so as to avoid removing the paper portion of the dry wall. It is important to go slowly and if necessary re-apply Smart Strip™. Patience is a virtue, but you will be amazed with the positive results.

Q. Does Smart Strip™ work well to remove paint from furniture?
A. We believe Smart Strip™ is one of the FINEST FURNITURE PAINT REMOVERS for both new furniture and antiques. Smart Strip™ removes furniture paint, varnishes and stains and works effectively on all types of wood (including oak, mahogany, walnut, cherry etc). However, if you have furniture that you want to “keep the natural color” after stripping we recommend Peel Away 7™ --- there is nothing better for this particular purpose.

Q. Does Smart Strip™ work well to remove paint from boats?
A. Smart Strip™ is a top paint remover for marine coatings. Smart Strip™ will not damage the gel coat. However, for really tough marine paints with over 10 coats of paint we suggest you use Peel Away® Marine Safety Strip Paint Remover which has been specifically formulated for tough marine paints and coatings.

Q. Is it easy to apply Smart Strip™ Paint Remover?
A. Smart Strip™ Paint Remover is easily applied by brush, roller, or conventional airless sprayers. It is also available in handy-to-use aerosol spray cans. Smart Strip™ adheres to most vertical and overhanging surfaces.

Q. What is the length of time Smart Strip™ needs to stay on the surface?
A. The length of time is called “dwell time.” It will vary depending on the type of paint, layers of paint, years of application and the temperature of the surface to be stripped. The manufacturer suggests that you allow the Smart Strip™ paste to dwell overnight or even longer. Then remove the softened paint using a standard scraper or power washer. Rinse the surface with water or denatured alcohol to remove any remaining residue and allow the surface to dry thoroughly before repainting.

Q. Are there any temperature constraints using Smart Strip™ ?
A. For optimum results, the manufacturer suggests the surface temperatures should be between 60 degrees Fahrenheit and 95 Fahrenheit.

Q. Does Smart Strip™ work on brick, concrete and stone?
A. YES. Smart Strip™ is very effective on tough surfaces like brick, stone, pavers, marble, concrete, limestone etc.
